Practice Policies

1. Welcome

These Practice Policies outline the expectations and agreements that guide your experience working with Attune Holistic Psychology, PC. Please read them carefully. By scheduling an appointment or engaging in services, you agree to these policies.

2. Services Offered

Attune Holistic Psychology, PC provides:

  • Individual therapy (in-person and telehealth)

  • Telehealth / virtual sessions via a HIPAA-compliant platform

  • Self-paced courses available through our online portal

  • Practice Library — a curated resource library available exclusively to current therapy clients

3. Session Length & Scheduling

  • Initial Intake sessions are 60 minutes and individual therapy sessions are typically 45 minutes unless otherwise arranged.

  • Telehealth sessions are conducted through the SimplePractice Client Portal, our secure, HIPAA-compliant video platform. You will receive session access through the portal prior to your appointment.

  • Appointments must be scheduled in advance through the SimplePractice Client Portal. Walk-in appointments are not available.

  • Please arrive on time. Late arrivals will be seen for the remaining session time and charged the full session fee.

4. Fees & Payment

  • Session fees are discussed and agreed upon prior to your first appointment.

  • Payment is due at the time of service unless prior arrangements have been made.

  • Attune Holistic Psychology, PC is an out-of-network provider. We do not bill insurance directly. Upon request, we can provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

  • Accepted payment methods: Credit/Debit Card, HSA, and FSA.

  • A credit card or HSA/FSA card on file is required for all clients.

  • Unpaid balances may result in suspension of services.

5. Cancellation & No-Show Policy

  • We require 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

  • Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice will be charged the full session fee.

  • No-shows (missed appointments without notice) will also be charged the full session fee.

  • Late cancellation and no-show fees are not reimbursable by insurance.

  • We understand that emergencies happen. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of your therapist in cases of genuine emergency.

6. Social Media & Contact Boundaries

  • To protect your privacy and maintain professional boundaries, your therapist will not accept friend or connection requests on any personal social media platform.

  • Attune Holistic Psychology, PC maintains a professional presence on social media for educational purposes. Engaging with that content (e.g., liking or commenting) is your choice, but please be aware that doing so is not private.

  • Please do not use social media, email, or text to communicate confidential clinical information. These channels are not secure or HIPAA-compliant.

  • For non-urgent communication between sessions, please use the SimplePractice Client Portal or contact us at jchoi@drjeanchoi.com or 415-795-2625.

  • Email and text are appropriate only for scheduling and administrative matters, not for clinical concerns.

7. Emergency & Crisis Protocol

Attune Holistic Psychology, PC is not an emergency or crisis service. If you are experiencing a psychiatric emergency or are in immediate danger:

  • Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 (available 24/7)

  • Crisis Text Line: Text HOME to 741741

If you are in crisis between sessions, please do not wait for your next appointment or rely on email or text to reach your therapist. Your therapist may not be immediately available outside of scheduled sessions.

If you are a current client and have safety concerns that are not an immediate emergency, please contact your therapist directly through the SimplePractice Client Portal and clearly indicate the urgency of your message.

8. Telehealth-Specific Policies

  • You must be physically located in California, Colorado, or Rhode Island at the time of your telehealth session, as your therapist is licensed in those states only.

  • You are responsible for ensuring a private, quiet location with a stable internet connection for virtual sessions.

  • Telehealth sessions conducted in a non-private setting (e.g., a car, public place) may be rescheduled at the therapist's discretion.

  • Technology issues lasting more than 15 minutes may result in rescheduling without a cancellation fee.

9. Self-Paced Courses & Practice Library

  • Self-paced courses are available for purchase through our online portal and are intended for educational and personal growth purposes. They do not constitute therapy or establish a therapeutic relationship.

  • The Practice Library is a resource available exclusively to current therapy clients of Attune Holistic Psychology, PC. Access is provided through the SimplePractice Client Portal and is not transferable.

  • All course and library content is the intellectual property of Attune Holistic Psychology, PC and may not be reproduced, shared, or distributed.

10. Changes to These Policies

We reserve the right to update these policies at any time. You will be notified of significant changes through the SimplePractice Client Portal. Continued engagement with our services constitutes acceptance of the updated policies.
